Planning an early summer tent wedding in Sweden’s archipelago is nothing short of a gamble. June days can be magical, with golden sunlight glistening on calm waters. But they can just as easily bring bone-chilling winds, heavy rain, and temperatures that make you question summer’s existence. When you add in the complexity of a Stockholm Marathon closing city streets on the wedding day and a coach ride for all the guests to the church, the stakes rise even higher. 

Nike and Erik’s wedding – a celebration for the books, embodied the magic of a perfect summer wedding in the Nordics.

The Ceremony: A Soulful Start

The day began at Karlaplan, where 129 elegantly tuxedo dressed guests boarded coaches bound for the historic Norrtälje church from the year of 1726. As the church doors opened, Nike stepped through like a vision of a modern Swedish godess in a custom gown by Fadi El Khoury. Her silhouette was impeccable—timeless yet contemporary—with a delicate veil that added a romantic flourish.

The ceremony itself was pure enchantment. Isaac and the Soulcompany performed a soul-stirring rendition of Just the way you are that left not a dry eye. The 18th centuries-old church, with its timeless charm, was the perfect backdrop for the couple’s vows.

Setting Sail: A Journey to Paradise

Following the ceremony, the guests embarked on a truly Swedish adventure aboard the classic steamship Waxholm III. Gliding through the serene waters of the archipelago, the boat was abuzz with anticipation as it carried everyone to Erik’s family’s summer home. The journey itself was a highlight, with stunning views of rocky islands and shimmering seas providing the perfect prelude to the festivities ahead.

A Tent by the Water: The Reception

Nestled right by the water, the reception tent was a vision of elegant archipelago chic. The decor, understated yet sophisticated, framed the natural beauty of the surroundings. The evening light danced on the water as the guests enjoyed a menu curated by Furusunds Värdshus, featuring Swedish delicacies that delighted and more.

The weather could not have been more perfect—a rare gift for a June wedding in Sweden.

A Night to Remember

As the stars emerged against the sky, the atmosphere became even more magical. Guests gathered by the wood fire on the jetty for a midnight snack of grilled smashed burgers. The crackle of the flames, the soft lapping of the waves, and the laughter, dance and music created a moment of true Love.
